NFL Week 8 – Point Spread, Injuries, Weather, and Betting Notes

NFL Week 8 Injuries and Weather

Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers (-4.5)

Arizona Cardinals Injuries:

• Anquan Boldin is still recovering from getting his face re-arranged. He is listed as questionable for this week after undergoing multiple surgeries.

Carolina Panthers Injuries

• Panthers look pretty healthy this week. Chris Harris, Mushin Muhammed and Jonathan Stewart are all listed as Probable, but should be good to go.

Weather: Sunny, 65 degrees, 20% chance of precipitation, wind from west at 7mph.

Oakland Raiders at Baltimore Ravens (-7)

Oakland Raiders Injuries:

• No significant injuries

Baltimore Ravens Injuries:

• Willis McGahee, Chris McAlister and Ed Reed have been banged up all year and are listed as probable for week 8. Expect Reed and McGahee to play. McAlister is still trying to get back on the field after suffering a knee injury early in the season.

Weather: Partly Cloudy, 62 degrees, wind from West at 12mph

Washington Redskins at Detroit Lions (+7.5)

Washington Redskins Injuries:

• Jason Taylor played through his calf injury last week and is expected to do the same in Week 8. He’s far from 100%, but shouldn’t matter too much against the pitiful Lions.
• Jason Campbell and Clinton Portis are both listed as Probable, but will play. Both players are just dealing with the typically aches and pains that set in after seven weeks of NFL action.

Detroit Lions Injuries:

• No significant injuries

Weather: N/A (Dome)

San Diego Chargers at New Orleans Saints (+3) (in London)

San Diego Chargers Injuries:

• LaDainian Tomlinson is still dealing with a toe injury. He’s listed as probably, but it’ll be the same deal as the past few weeks – he’ll play, he just won’t be the same.

New Orleans Saints Injuries:

• Reggie Bush is Out with a knee injury. He’ll be out for at least 2-4 weeks.
• Jeremy Shockey is listed as Questionable as he continues to recover from a sports hernia and some hurt feelings.

Weather: (game played at Wembley Stadium, UK) Partly Cloudy, 50 degrees, wind from SW at 5mph.

Kansas City Chiefs at New York Jets (-13)

Kansas City Chiefs Injuries:

• Brodie Croyle is out for the year with a torn MCL. He got pounded by the Titans last week.
• Damon Huard is listed as Questionable with a hand injury and it’s still not known whether he’ll play.

New York Jets Injuries:

• Jerricho Cotchery is listed as Questionable with a leg injury, but it sounds like he’ll be good to go.

Weather: Showers, 59 degress, wind from SW at 12mph

Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins (+1.5)

Buffalo Bills Injuries:

• John DiGiorgio (awesome name) is out for the season with a knee injury.

Miami Dolphins Injuries:

• No significant injuries

Weather: Thunder Showers, 79 degrees, wind from North at 12mph.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Dallas Cowboys (-2.5)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Injuries:

• Remember Cadillac Williams? He’s back with the team and practicing. He’s listed as Questionable for this week’s game, but I doubt he’ll see any action for at least a few more weeks.
• Ike Hilliard is recovering from a concussion and should play this week.
• Warrick Dunn suffered a pinched nerve in his upper back last week against the Seahawks and is listed as Questionable. Doesn’t sound too good.

Dallas Cowboys Injuries:

• Tony Romo is out this week. After all that talk of Romor playing last week against the Rams, it looks like the original 2-4 prognosis still stands.
• Terence Newman is still out with a sports hernia.
• Pacman Jones is out due to suspension.
• Roy Williams (the Safety) is out for the season with a broken forearm. With Newman, Jones and Williams all out, the Cowboys are awfully thin in the secondary. Don’t be surprised if Jeff Garcia dinks and dunks them to death this week.

Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles (-9)

Atlanta Falcons Injuries:

• No significant injuries

Philadelphia Eagles Injuries:

• Shawn Andrews is out after undergoing surgery on his back
• Brian Westbrook should be ready to go after sitting out the past few weeks with a rib injury

Weather: Partly Cloudy, 61 degrees, Wind from West at 13mph.

St. Louis Rams at New England Patriots (-7)

St. Louis Rams Injuries:

• Orlando Pace is currently listed as Questionable with a quad injury.
• Adam Carriker is walking with a boot due to an ankle injury and is listed as Questionable. He won’t practice until Friday, so this sounds like a game-time decision situation.
• Drew Bennett is Out this week with a foot injury
• Steven Jackson strained his quad last week, but will play this week against the Patriots

New England Patriots Injuries:

• Sammy Morris left last Monday’s game with a knee injury and is listed as Questionable for this week’s matchup.
• Rodney Harrison is out for the season with a torn quad muscle.
• Laurence Maroney is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

Weather: Rain, 60 degrees, wind from South at 19mph.

Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville Jaguars (-7)

Cleveland Browns Injuries:

• Kellen Winslow is Out due to a suspension after running his mouth.
• Shaun Smith is Out with a hand injury

Jacksonville Jaguars Injuries:

• It sounds like Matt Jones will start serving his suspension for playing in the snow this week, but no official word as of yet.
• Reggie Nelson is listed as Questionable with a knee injury, but should be back this week.

Weather: Sunny, 74 degrees, wind from NW at 8mph.

Cincinnatti Bengals at Houston Texans (-9.5)

Cincinnatti Bengals Injuries:

• Andre Caldwell is Out for the next few weeks with a foot injury
• Carson Palmer is Out again this week with an elbow injury.

Houston Texans Injuries:

• Andre Davis is Out with a finger injury

Weather: Sunny, 81 Degrees, wind from West at 9mph.

New York Giants at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3)

New York Giants Injuries:

• Plaxico Burress is listed as Questionable after tearing a tendon in his pinkie. He should still be good to go this week.
• Antonio Pierce is listed as Questionable after sitting out last week’s game with a quad injury

Pittsburgh Steelers Injuries:

• Troy Polamalu is recovering from a concussion, but will play.
• Willie Parker could return this week from the knee injury that has kept him out the past few weeks. He is listed as Questionable.

Weather: Showers, 51 degrees, wind from West at 14mph.

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (-5)

Seattle Seahwaks Injuries:

• Matt Hasselback is listed as Questionable and Head Coach Mike Holmgren says there is a “possibility” he’ll play against the 49ers. Doesn’t sound too likely though.
• Lofa Tatupu is recovering from a concussion that kept him out of most of last week’s game and is listed as Questionable.

San Francisco 49ers Injuries:

• Allen Rossum and Michael Lewis are both listed as Questionable with knee injuries.

Weather:  Sunny, 77 degrees, wind from NW at 8mph.

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans (-4)

Indianapolis Colts Injuries:

• No significant injuries

Tennessee Titans Injuries:

• Kyle Vanden Bosch is listed as Questionable with a groin injury.
• Justin Gage is Questionable with a knee injury

Weather: Partly Cloudy, 58 degrees, wind from WNW at 22mph.
